| Echoes Of The Silk Road Featuring Quentin Budworth (Hayokee) and Poet Amanda Lowe |
| Hayokee frontman Quentin Budworth and the poet and writer Amanda Lowe want to take you on a musical journey inspired by the Traders, Warriors, and Pilgrims that travelled along the fabled Silk Route sharing stories and cultures.
Initiated by the Han Dynasty around 114 BC the Silk route or road was instrumental in linking the Middle East to China. Echoes Of The Silk Road will transport you through time using traditional instruments; the evocative hurdy gurdy played by Quentin and the moving sound of the hammer dulcimer played by Amanda. |
| I was fortunate to hear a preview of this new musical collaboration at an open mic event organised by the Creative Writing Dept of Hull University. After the brief performance the two musicians received a rapturous response with many in the room standing up to show their appreciation. Quentin and Amanda are taking their enthralling mystical sound on a tour of selected venues in the area.

It was our great pleasure to host an hour of music from Amanda Lowe on a Hammer Dulcimer and Quentin Budworth on a Hurdy Gurdy entitled “Echoes of a Silk Road”. The hour long programme was not enough for they took us on a journey from China to the shores of Europe and the music invoked pictures of Far Eastern Markets, Arabian Souks and Greek dancing in a Cyprus Taverna. It ranged from the sedate and regal to the wild, whirling music of all these lands. At times we were drifting on something quieter and more solemn, then lifted a joyful dance to which it was hard not to join in and then transported to the Middle East in both song and music. It was a fantastic hour and then enjoyment would not have ceased if they had been able to play on and on. All of us who were there enjoyed every moment and our thanks were noisy and prolonged.
